Sortie à la ferme du Buisson Siard

Throughout September and October, we had been studying farm animals in our classroom. We learned the names of the animals in both English and French.  Also, we learned songs and read books.  Works were available on the language shelf so the children could explore farm animals at their own pace.

At the end of October, our class took a special trip to the farm! La Ferme du Buisson Siard had many different animals the children could pet, and feed. We went in small groups around to each animals pen. The children were able to feed the ponies, donkeys, and pigs some hard bread. They fed the goats, sheep, ducks, and chickens wheat. One activity the children particularly enjoyed was feeding bottles of formula to the baby goats. Petting the soft rabbits was also a big hit!

Some of the children volunteered to go inside the pens and feed the animals. In the chicken coup, Gabriel was lucky enough to find an egg!
We ended our day with a picnic lunch during which the farmer told us interesting facts about all the animals.

Everyone enjoyed the day at the farm!
